Despite a big day from
Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) the Crimson Hawk lacrosse dropped a 20-10 decision to visiting Gannon on Saturday afternoon at Miller Stadium in PSAC action.
The Crimson Hawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but the Golden Knights answered scoring eight of the next nine goals to take an 8-4 lead. IUP scored twice to cut the halftime lead to 8-6.
Gannon took control in the second half scoring the first three goals of the second half. IUP was able to cut the lead to 11-8 but wouldn't get any closer.
Berlin netted four goals for the Crimson Hawks on nine shots to lead the IUP offense.
Stephanie Bianco (King of Prussia/Upper Merion) was the only other IUP player with multiple goals scoring twice.
Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional),
Corinne Miller (Hamburg, NY/Frontier),
Jessica Beck (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) and
Becca Vogt (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) each scored a goal.
Taylor Norwood (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) led the Crimson Hawk defense causing two turnovers, controlling two draws and one ground ball.
Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) took the loss in net for IUP making 11 saves and allowing 18 goals. Katherine Davis closed out the game.
The Crimson Hawks look to bounce back when they host Slippery Rock on Tuesday at Miller Stadium at 7:00 in PSAC action.
