Box Score

GAFFNEY, SC - An unassited goal by Paige Corathers (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) at the 26:54 mark of the second half cut the Crimson Hawks deficit to 7-5 but Limestone scored seven straight as IUP lost to the sixth-ranked Saints 14-6 in its non-conference women's lacrosse season opener on Monday afternoon in South Carolina.

Limestone (6-1) took an early 1-0 lead with a goal just 30 seconds in, but IUP evened the score with an Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) goal off a pass from Beth Glasshagel (Coram, NY/Newfield) eight minutes later.

After another goal by the Saints two minutes later until Stephanie Bianco (King of Prussia/Upper Merion) continued the back-and-forth game with another Crimson Hawks goal to tie it at 2-2 at the 18:03 mark in the first.

IUP put up its second straight goal, taking a 3-2 lead when Corinne Miller (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) scored on a free position shot at 15:42.

The Saints then took their turn with the lead, scoring three straight to take a 5-3 advantage before Sarah Ward (Murrysville/Franklin Regional ) found Alex Edwards (Bethlehem/Nazareth) for IUP's fourth goal, halting Limestone's run to make it 5-4 with 1:50 left before half. Limestone would increase that lead before the break, making it 6-4 with a goal at 1:15.

A goal by Limestone's Sarah Oor 2:52 into the second half gave the Saints a three-goal lead before Corathers' score 14 seconds later brought it back to two. That's when Limestone went on its 7-0 run over the course of the next 23:14, taking a commanding 14-5 lead. IUP added its last goal with 3:40 remaining when Corathers notched another off the stick of Tenley Seidel (Toldeo, OH/Saint Ursula Academy).

Oor led the Saints with five points, scoring once and added four assists while Jessica Aguanno scored three times for Limestone.

Chesley Hipp started and played all 60 minutes in the net for the Crimson Hawks, notching 12 saves.
