Box Score

MISENHEIMER, NC - Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored the game-winning goal with :04 left in overtime, completing a comeback that saw IUP score 13 second half goals, including four by Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame), as the Crimson Hawks defeated 15th-ranked Pfieffer 20-19 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday in North Carolina.

Down 9-5 at the half, the Crimson Hawks (2-1) came out with back-to-back goals by Berlin less than three minutes into the second. Lodovici then found the back of the net at the 25:36 to quickly cut IUP's deficit to 9-8.

Pfieffer (4-4) then bounced back with three goals over a 2:03 span, along with an IUP goal by Corinne Miller (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) sandwiched in the middle, to get back on top by three at 12-9 with 22:09 left.

The teams would trade the next two goals before the Crimson Hawks scored four straight in less than two minutes before getting another four straight after a Pfieffer goal to take a 18-14 lead with 12:04 left in the game. Berlin scored two during the 8-1 run, while Miller and Becca Vogt (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) also scored a pair to help IUP take the lead.

Pfieffer then went on a run of its own, scoring four straight goals to close out the game, including one man-up score, sending the game to overtime.

Pfieffer opened up overtime with a free position goal at the 2:03 mark to take a one-goal lead before IUP countered with a free position goal of its own from Stephanie Bianco (King of Prussia/Upper Merion) with 1:17 to go to tie the score again.

With :18 left, Vogt would get a yellow card to give Pfieffer a man-up advantage, however a turnover gave IUP the ball back in their offensive zone when Lodovici threaded the net for the eventual winning goal.

Rachel Hebberd and Sarah Daly led Pfieffer with five goals apiece, adding a combined five assists.

Berlin scored six goals on the day while Vogt added four and assisted on three others. Miller had three goals while Lodovici and Bianco each had two. Chelsey Hipp (Clarksville, MD/Good Counsel) started in goal, playing the first 51:43 before giving way to Katherine Davis, who picked up the win while giving up four goals in 11:17 of action.

The Crimson Hawks return to Pennsylvania after going 2-1 on their spring break trip and will start conference play on Tuesday at Shippensburg.
