SLIPPERY ROCK, PA - The Crimson Hawks won four events, including three from the women, as the IUP men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Slippery Rock Open on Thursday afternoon.
Antonette Acosta picked up on of IUP's wins in the 400 meters, finishing with a time of 1:02.17. Stephanie Beaudette ran a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time of 4:55.13 in the 1500 meters, winning the race and defeating her closest competition by almost 19 seconds.
Alyssa Taddie picked up another IUP win in the 5,000 meters, finishing with a PSAC qualifying time of 18:22.30.
Other women picking up PSAC qualifying times on Thursday were Laura Nientemp in the 100 and 200 meters, finishing with times of 12.72 and 26.12, respectively; Kelly Davis in the 100 with a time of 13.06; Shona Young in the pole vault with a hight of 3.10 meters; and Julia Hunnell in the high jump with a heigh of 1.55 meters.
On the men's side, Ross Moreau took home a win in the discus throw with a distance of 43.75 meters, a PSAC qualifying toss. He also had a PSAC qualifying throw in the shot put with a distance of 15.51 meters, good for fourth in the event.
IUP returns to action the weekend of April 13 and 14 at Bucknell's Distance Carnival and at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
