MEADVILLE, PA - Krista Matsko ran an NCAA Division II provisional time in the 400 meter hurdles while other IUP men's and women's track runners tried to better their marks as the Crimson Hawks competed in Allegheny College's Gator Invite on Friday in Meadville.
Matsko finished with a time of 1:02.22, bettering her previous season-best by :00.34 to set a provisional time and qualify for a possible selection to the NCAA outdoor championships at the end of the month.
Her previous best of 1:02.54 was just a shade slower than the 1:02.50 needed to provisionally qualify for the champioinships.
Also competing on the women's side was Brooke McDaniel, who ran a 58.20 in the 400 meters; and Alyssa Taddie, who finished with a time of 11:28.03 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
On the men's side, Brandon Ford was the only field athlete to compete, posting a distance of 43-04.5 (13.22 meters) in the triple jump.
Already an NCAA provisional qualifier, Jared Long competed in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 53.34, failing to lower his mark, while Hopeton Bailey competed in the 100 meters, running a time of 11.20.
Victor Costello competed in the 1500 meters, posting a time of 3:58.62, while Clint Keller ran a time of 9:54.81 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
The NCAA championships will be held May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colorado.
