INDIANA, PA – IUP head track & field coach Michelle Burgher is one of 10 members who will be inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend, Oct. 11-12.

Competing for the Tigers in 2001, she was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that won the outdoor national championship that spring. She was named All-American in that event as well as the 4x100 meter relay and the indoor 4x400 meter relay.

"I am very elated and all smiles right now," said Burgher. "Being named in Clemson's Class of 2013 Hall of Fame is a honor way beyond my expectations. I was blessed to have had an amazing career at Clemson University and I am happy to be recognized for my contribution as a Clemson Tiger.

"To know that my legacy will be cemented into such an institution with a rich and strong tradition is nothing I could have imagined. I am humbled by this prestigious honor and will forever be grateful."

Burgher also locked up numerous Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) awards that year, winning outdoor championships in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays and in an indoor championship in the 4x400 relay. Individually, she was an outdoor champion in the 400 meter hurdles and earned All-ACC honors in both the indoor and outdoor 400 meter dash.

Burgher was a silver medalist at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, competing for Jamaica in the 4x400 relay. She was also an IAAF World Champion in the 4x400 relay in 2001.

Burgher joined the staff at IUP as an assistant in 2008, becoming the head men's and women's coach in 2011. She begins her third full season at the held in 2013-14.

The class, which includes five All-Americans, two national champions, three ACC 50-Year Anniversary team members, a two-time ACC Coach of the Year and one of the school's best two-sport athletes, will be honored during the Clemson-Boston College football game on Saturday.
