Darian Shuker (Reading, Pa./Exeter ) wasn't enough as Seton Hill's offense pushed forward for a 6-3 victory
IUP outshot Seton Hill 8-7 in the first half, but the Griffins set the pace early, leading 2-0 at halftime. Melayna Curry struck for the first goal in the 26th minute, and teammate Emily Hutsko scored one minute later.
Seton Hill strengthened their lead early in the second half, as Dominique Capello scored in the 38th minute putting the Griffins up 3-0.
The Crimson Hawks fought their way back into the game with two quick goals.
Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) found the back of the cage in the 38th minute to tighten the score at 3-1. Five minutes later, teammate
Dani Edwards (Milford/Delaware Valley) kept the momentum going by bringing the game to a close 3-2 score.
Seton Hill found some more distance as Natasha Nichols was able to score and put them up 4-2. IUP tried once again to shoot their way back into the game when Jessica Kida scored to bring them within one for the second time in the game.
With eight minutes left to play, IUP was still down by just one goal with a score of 4-3, but two quick goals by the Griffins quickly silenced the Crimson Hawks.
IUP falls to 3-8 and will head home to take on Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
