Lodovici’s Six Goals Leads Women’s Lacrosse to 22-8 Win at Lenoir-Rhyne

Alexa Lodovici had eight points on Friday and leads the Crimson Hawks with 24 (13 goals, 11 assists) on the season.

HICKORY, NC – Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) netted a season-high six goals, helping the Crimson Hawks to a 14-goal outburst in the second half as IUP defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 22-8 in women's lacrosse action late afternoon on Friday.

It's the first time since 2000 that IUP has started a season 3-0.

The Crimson Hawks saw 11 different players reach the scoring column, including Lodovici, who also assisted on two IUP goals.

Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and Drew Hayden (Gibsonia/Pine Richland) deposited three goals apiece while Michelle Zakrzewski (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley) and Brittany Palardy each netted two.

Taylor Norwood (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) led the defensive effort with four ground balls and three caused turnovers while also picking up six draw controls. Berlin and Palardy each caused three turnovers while Sarah Ward (Murrysville/Franklin Regional ) registered three ground balls.

Chelsey Hipp (Clarksville, MD/Good Counsel) started and played the first half in the net for the Crimson Hawks, posting four saves. Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) also had four saves all in the second half.

The Crimson Hawks play one more game on their southern road trip, facing Pfeiffer on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
