Box Score

ERIE, PA - Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) tallied a game-high five goals and three assists as the IUP lacrosse team stayed unbeaten with a 13-6 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival Mercyhurst Saturday.

With the win, the Crimson Hawks now stand at a perfect 10-0 for the first time in program history and 7-0 in the tightly contested PSAC. The loss drops the Lakers to 10-3 on the season and 5-2 in the conference.

Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) posted a trio of goals for the Crimson Hawks, while Drew Hayden (Gibsonia/Pine Richland), Amy Weinberg (Clarksville, MD/Atholton), Brittney Palardy (Perry Hall, MD/Perry Hall), Alex Edwards (Bethlehem/Nazareth) and Sarah Ward (Murrysville/Franklin Regional ) all scored as well.

Anna LeGritt and Kayla Minner each scored a pair of goals for the Lakers, while Olivia Keirn and Rebecca Himes added a goal apiece.

Locked in a 1-1 tie early in the first, the Crimson Hawks would rip off three consecutive goals to take a 4-1 lead with over 20 minutes to play in the half. A Minner goal would trim the IUP lead to just two moments later, but the Crimson Hawks would finish the half on a 4-1 run to take a 7-3 lead at the break.

IUP would dominate the second stanza, building up a 13-4 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Lodovici and Berlin. Mercyhurst would score two late goals to pull with seven, but the late rally would fall short.

Chelsey Hipp (Clarksville, MD/Good Counsel) notched the win in goal for the Crimson Hawks, tallying four saves in over 35 minutes in the net. Rebecca Muscella played the entire game in goal for the Lakers, and had six saves.

The Crimson Hawks are back in action this Friday when they host Kutztown at Miller Stadium. Gametime with the Golden Bears is set for 4:00 p.m.
