Brittney Palardy Nets Career-High in No. 7 Crimson Hawks' Blowout Win

Box Score

KUTZTOWN, PA – Brittney Palardy (Perry Hall, MD/Perry Hall) scored a career-high six goals to help seventh-ranked IUP to a big 23-3 victory over Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's lacrosse matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The victory was the Crimson Hawks' eighth in a row as they improve to 10-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in PSAC play. It was also their fifth 20-point outing of the season as they haven't lost since March 18. Kutztown falls to 3-9 overall and 1-7 in the conference.

The Crimson Hawks outshot Kutztown by an incredible 44-9 this afternoon. IUP had 23 in the first half and 21 more in the second while the Golden Bears had just two in the final 30 minutes of play. IUP also held the offensive advantage by grabbing 22 draw controls compared to just six for Kutztown. Taylor Norwood (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) came out with six while Alex Edwards (Bethlehem/Nazareth) added four.

In addition to Palardy's six goals, Drew Hayden (Gibsonia/Pine Richland) added five on day. It was her third consecutive five-goal output and sixth of the season. The five goals brings her season total to 44, which leads the highest-scoring team in the conference and is tied for fifth in the PSAC.

The Crimson Hawks started the game with seven consecutive goals in the first 14:33. Five different players got into the action early, with two goals each coming from Palardy and Edwards.

A Kutztown goal at the 14:10 mark stopped the bleeding for the Golden Bears, but only temporarily as the Crimson Hawks scored four goals over a 8:35 time span to take an 11-1 lead. Both teams would score in the final 00:41 as IUP took a 12-2 lead into halftime.

The Crimson Hawks then began the second half with eight consecutive goals, with three each coming from Hayden and Palardy, to take a 20-2 lead with 10:29 left in the game. They'd milk the clock the rest of the way and play keep way with the Golden Bears to close out the blowout win.

Three different Crimson Hawks saw time in goal, including Sarah Knotts (Mount Airy, MD/Linganore), who played over 34 minutes. Katie Davis (Owings Mills, MD/Mercy) got the start and Chelsey Hipp (Clarksville, MD/Good Counsel) also played as the trio combined for four saves.

This was IUP's last scheduled road game of the regular season as they wrap things up with four home games in the next two weeks.

The first of those home dates comes on Tuesday when the Crimson Hawks host Mercyhurst, which is 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the PSAC.
