INDIANA, PA - The IUP athletic department has announced the football schedule for the upcoming 2015 season. The Crimson Hawks currently have a 10-game slate with five games scheduled to be played in the friendly confines of Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium.
All 10 games currently scheduled are mandated by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), with nine counting as league contests.
The Crimson Hawks are set to open their season on Sept. 12 when they host Kutztown. They'll be looking for a little bit of revenge as the Golden Bears won 44-7 at home last season. IUP will remain at home next weekend when they host Lock Haven, who they defeated 21-16 on the road in 2014.
IUP travels to Mercyhurst on Sept. 26 before hosting Edinboro on Oct. 3 for Homecoming. It'll be the first time since 2009 that the Crimson Hawks have hosted Edinboro for their Homecoming game. The Fighting Scots won that matchup 38-24.
The Crimson Hawks are on the road for three of their next four games, going to Greensburg to play Seton Hill on Oct. 10, along with trips to Slippery Rock on Oct. 24 and Clarion on Oct. 31. IUP will host California (PA) for the seventh annual Coal Bowl on Oct. 17.
Senior Day will be Nov. 7 when IUP welcomes Gannon. IUP is 4-3 against the Golden Knights since they joined the PSAC in 2008, including three victories in the last four seasons. The Crimson Hawks will wrap up the year on Nov. 14 at West Chester, which could possibly turn into the PSAC championship game if they are crowned champions of the Western Division.
An announcement on the opponent for the 2015 opener is expected to come at some point this spring. The Crimson Hawks opened the last season at home agains Saint Augustine's (NC) with a 41-19 victory.
A date for spring practice has also yet to be set.
