SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –
Brooke Smay (Mineral Point, Pa. /Forest Hills) and
Jada Wilson (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) each scored a pair of conference qualifying marks as the IUP men's and women's track & field teams competed at Slippery Rock's Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Smay picked up her two marks in the jumps, posting a career best of 5.32 meters in the long jump and a season best of 11.49 meters in the triple jump. Wilson got hers in running events, running a 2:19.47 in the 800 meters and a 15.16 in the 100 meter hurdles. Both times were season-bests.
Heather Sternby (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) and
Kiah Walton (Burlington, N.J./Burlington) also posted season-bests on Saturday with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times in the 200 meters and 100 hurdles, respectively. Sternby ran a 25.97 in the 200 and Walton finished with a time of 15.31 in the hurdles.
Elizabeth Coppella (Bradford, Pa. /Bradford) also hit a PSAC qualifying mark for the women, clearing a height of 3.21 meters in the pole vault.
On the men's side, two athletes hit PSAC qualifying marks, including
Charles Wilson-Adams (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) and
Trey North (Westfield, N.Y./Westfield Central). Wilson-Adams had a season-best leap of 2.00 meters in the high jump and North scored a career-best 6.52 meters in the long jump.
The Crimson Hawks are back in action next weekend, competing at the annual Penn Relays and at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Invitational.
