PHILADELPHIA – The IUP men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the second day of the 122nd Penn Relays as seven athletes completed events at Franklin Field on Friday.
Carly Petney (Gallitzin, Pa./Penn Cambria) was one of three individuals who hit conference qualifying marks, running a personal best time of 12.26 in the 100 meters.
Brooke Smay (Mineral Point, Pa. /Forest Hills) competed in the triple jump, leaping 11.16 meters (36-07.5).
On the men's side,
Julius Rivera (Monroevilla, Pa./Gateway) sprinted to a time of 10.78 in the 100 meters. IUP's distance medley relay also competed, with
Austin Cooper (King of Prussia, Pa. /Upper Merion ),
Demetrius Timmons (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby),
Derek Noll (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and
Andrew Morgan (Gold, Pa. /Northern Potter) crossing the line with a time of 10:15.37.
The Penn Relays wrap up on Saturday, with
Jeremy Claypoole (Bellwood, Pa. /Bellwood-Antis) scheduled to compete in the men's triple jump at 9:00 a.m. IUP athletes will also be competing at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Classic.
