Crimson Hawks Take Six-Game Win-Streak into Matchup with Clarion

THE GAME AT A GLANCE
With their win-streak now at six games, the Crimson Hawks return home this Saturday to host Clarion. Tipoff at the Kovalchick Complex is set for 7:30 p.m. IUP is coming off of an 86-74 road win at Pitt-Johnstown to extend its streak and improve to 12-5 overall and 9-3 in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks are now in a tie with Mercyhurst for the Western Division lead. The Golden Eagles are having their best season in five years, entering the weekend with a 10-8 overall record and a 7-5 mark in the conference. Clarion has won two straight games, including a 74-68 overtime victory over Edinboro last Saturday.

STORYLINES
• IUP's current six-game win streak is its longest of the season and the most consecutive wins since the Crimson Hawks won six straight at the end of last year's regular season leading up to the PSAC title game
• The Crimson Hawks are 5-1 against PSAC West opponents this year, owning a five-game divisional win-streak that dates back to their 72-61 win at Gannon on Dec. 1
• The Crimson Hawks are 7-2 at home this year, including 6-2 in the Kovalchick Complex; They have won five straight home games dating back to the IRMC Classic on Nov. 27
• Clarion is 2-7 away from this season
• HC Joe Lombardi is 14-4 against Clarion, including nine straight wins dating back to the 2011-12 season; IUP's last loss to Clarion came at home on Jan. 22, 2011 (73-68)
• IUP is outscoring opponents by an average of 16.3 points during their win streak; It's largest win was the 27-point victory at Cheyney
• Already with 1,000 points for his career, Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) reached 1,000 points in an IUP uniform with his final bucket against Slippery Rock last Saturday
• IUP is second in the PSAC and 24th in the nation giving up 68.1 points per game; The Crimson Hawks have limited opponents to 70 or fewer points 10 times
• The Crimson Hawks have also held 16 of their 17 opponents under their season scoring average
• IUP's game at Fairmont State on Dec. 12 was the Crimson Hawks' first regular season game against a ranked opponent in recent history, as IUP's nationally-ranked opponents usually come in the postseason; IUP went 3-1 against ranked opponents in the NCAA tournament last year
• The Crimson Hawks have played six games against 2015 NCAA tournament teams and have a 4-2 record in those games, with wins over University of the Sciences (72-64), American International (77-60), at Gannon (72-61), and against Slippery Rock (89-71) and losses at Mercyhurst (64-57) and at Fairmont State (85-72); IUP has three more games against tournament teams from last year - Gannon, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock

BRANDON NORFLEET AMONG TOP SCORERS IN PSAC
Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) is IUP's top scoring threat and statistically all-around best player. He leads IUP in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, free throw percentage, assists, and minutes played. He's also second on the team in three-point percentage and steals and third in three-pointers made and total rebounds. 
• Norfleet was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week on Monday (Jan. 11)
• Norfleet has scored 20 points 10 times this year, including a streak of five games, and set a career-high of 31 points in IUP's win at Edinboro (Dec. 19) and Pitt-Johnstown (Jan. 13)
• Norfleet has scored 1,384 career points and has 71 double-digit scoring games; He has 1,031 points in 76 games at IUP
• Norfleet made 22 straight free throw attempts over the course of seven games, beginning with West Chester (Nov. 22) and ending at Fairmont State (Dec. 12)
• Norfleet tied a career-high with nine assists vs. Cal and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds at Shippensburg
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and ranks No. 15 in the country in total points (368)
• Norfleet is No. 3 in the PSAC and No. 40 in the country in points per game (21.6)
• Norfleet is No. 1 the PSAC and ranks No. 9 in the country in field goals made (136)
• Norfleet is No. 9 in the PSAC in field goal percentage (.484)
• Norfleet is No. 9 in the PSAC in free throws made (70)
• Norfleet is No. 13 in the PSAC in free throw percentage (.795)
• Norfleet is No. 3 in the PSAC in assists (72)
• Norfleet is No. 5 in the PSAC in assists per game (4.2)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 14 in the country in total minutes played (610)
• Norfleet is No. 3 in the PSAC and No. 36 in the country in minutes per game (35.9)

JACOBO DIAZ STEPPING UP HIS PRODUCTION
Fr. F Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) has become a key player off the bench for the Crimson Hawks. He is fourth on the team with 8.5 points per game and leads the Crimson Hawks with 114 rebounds and 6.7 rebounds per game. 
• Diaz was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Week on Monday (Jan. 11)
• He grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds in 35 minutes at Pitt-Johnstown (Jan. 13)
• Diaz scored a career-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting at Cheyney (Jan. 3)
• Diaz posted his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds at Fairmont State (Dec. 12)
• Over his last seven games, Diaz has gone 16-of-17 from the foul line, including a streak of 15 straight

ANTHONY GLOVER HAS BEEN AN ADDED SCORING THREAT
So. G Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) has been a welcome addition in his first year after transferring from Chicago State.
• Glover is third on the team with 10.3 points per game
• He made a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points at Pitt-Johnstown (Jan. 13)
• Glover scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting at Kutztown (Dec. 5)
• Glover has reached double-figures in scoring seven times, including three 20-point performances
• Glover ranks fourth in the PSAC with a 42.7 three-point field percentage and is second with 38 made three-pointers
• Glover grabbed a career-high nine rebounds against Urbana (Nov. 13) and has a season-high three assists four times

DADDY UGBEDE AGAIN PERFORMING CONSISTENTLY
Sr. F Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) is second on the team with 11.9 points per game despite playing in just 19.4 minutes per contest. His 69.0 field goal percentage would rank first in the PSAC and 10th in the country if he had enough made field goals to qualify. 
• He's averaging 20.0 points and shooting 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the field in his last two games
• Ugbede had a season-high 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting in 23 minutes against Slippery Rock
• He's reached double-figures in scoring in each of his last four
• He's made 50 percent of his shots in 15 of 17 games

JOE LOMBARDI BECAME PROGRAM'S ALL-TIME WINNINGEST COACH IN VICTORY OVER THE SCIENCES
With IUP's comeback 72-64 win over The Sciences on Nov. 27, HC Joe Lombardi became the IUP men's basketball program's all-time winningest coach, surpassing Gary Edwards' (1996-2006) 206 career victories. In addition to his current total of 215 wins, Lombardi has a .724 career winning percentage in his nine-plus seasons, the best in IUP history. He hit the 200-win plateau with IUP's victory over Glenville State in the first round of last year's NCAA tournament. He's the fastest IUP coach to reach the milestone.
