Men's Basketball Takes Eight-Game Win Streak into ESPN 3 Showcase at Cal

THE GAME AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks take their eight-game win streak to California (Pa.) on Wednedsay as they face the Vulcans in the NCAA Division II Game of the Week. The matchup will be featured on ESPN 3 with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the Convocation Center. IUP is coming off of an 81-63 home victory over Seton Hill last Wednesday and will bring a four-game win streak over the Vulcans into this matchup. The Crimson Hawks are currently tied with Mercyhurst atop the PSAC West with an 11-3 league record and boast an overall mark of 14-5 on the year. Cal is 7-13 this year and is eighth in the division with a 4-10 PSAC record after Saturday's 52-42 home loss to Mercyhurst. The defeat was the second straight for the Vulcans, who have lost three of their last four games overall.

STORYLINES
• IUP's current eight-game win streak is its longest of the season and the most consecutive wins since the Crimson Hawks won eight straight between Dec. 16 and Jan. 14 a season ago
• This game marks the 301st of Joe Lombardi's IUP tenure, the third most of any coach in program history (Carl Davis and Peck McKnight, 323)
• IUP is 7-1 against PSAC West opponents this year, owning a seven-game divisional win-streak that dates back to their 72-61 win at Gannon on Dec. 1
• IUP is 5-3 in road games this year and have a current three-game road win streak; Cal is 5-6 at home
• HC Joe Lombardi is 15-6 against Cal; He's looking for his sixth career regular season sweep of the Vulcans
• IUP is outscoring opponents by an average of 15.6 points during their win streak; It's largest win was the 27-point victory at Cheyney
• Already with 1,000 points for his career, Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) reached 1,000 points in an IUP uniform with his final bucket against Slippery Rock on Jan. 9
• IUP is second in the PSAC and 27th in the nation giving up 68.1 points per game; The Crimson Hawks have limited opponents to 70 or fewer points 11 times
• The Crimson Hawks have also held 18 of their 19 opponents under their season scoring average
• IUP's game at 10th-ranked Fairmont State on Dec. 12 was the Crimson Hawks' first regular season game against a ranked opponent in recent history, as IUP's nationally-ranked opponents usually come in the postseason; IUP went 3-1 against ranked opponents in the NCAA tournament last year
• The Crimson Hawks have played six games against 2015 NCAA tournament teams and have a 4-2 record in those games, with wins over University of the Sciences (72-64), American International (77-60), at Gannon (72-61), and against Slippery Rock (89-71) and losses at Mercyhurst (64-57) and at Fairmont State (85-72); IUP has three more games against tournament teams from last year - Gannon, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock

BRANDON NORFLEET AMONG TOP SCORERS IN PSAC
Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) is IUP's top scoring threat and statistically all-around best player. He leads IUP in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, free throw percentage, assists, and minutes played. He's also second on the team in three-point percentage and steals and third in three-pointers made and total rebounds. 
• Norfleet has a PSAC West Athlete of the Week award to his credit (Jan. 11)
• Norfleet scored a career-high 38 points against Seton Hill (Jan. 20); The point total is the second most in the PSAC this season
• Norfleet has 12 20-point games, including a current streak of four games, and has three 30-point games
• Norfleet has scored 1,444 career points and has 73 double-digit scoring games; He has 1,091 points in 78 games at IUP (14.0/game)
• Norfleet made 22 straight free throw attempts over the course of seven games, beginning with West Chester (Nov. 22) and ending at Fairmont State (Dec. 12)
• Norfleet tied a career-high with nine assists vs. Cal (Dec. 16) and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds at Shippensburg (Dec. 4)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and ranks No. 14 in the country in total points (428)
• Norfleet is tied for No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 19 in the country in points per game (22.5)
• Norfleet is No. 1 the PSAC and ranks No. 7 in the country in field goals made (159)
• Norfleet is No. 9 in the PSAC in field goal percentage (.495)

CRIMSON HAWKS FEATURE TOP TWO FRESHMEN IN PSAC WEST
Fr. F Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) and Fr. G Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) have won a combined five of the 10 PSAC West Freshman of the Week awards this season. They've both played in all 19 games and while they are now valuable threats off the bench, Diaz and Lombardi have combined for 14 starts.
• Diaz was named PSAC West Freshman of the Week on Jan. 11 and Jan. 25; Lombardi earned top freshman honors on Nov. 23, Nov. 30, and Jan. 18
• Diaz leads IUP with 6.6 rebounds per game and 126 total boards; He's fifth with 8.3 points per game
• Lombardi is fourth on the team with 8.5 points per game and second with 55 assists

ANTHONY GLOVER HAS BEEN AN ADDED SCORING THREAT
So. G Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) has been a welcome addition in his first year after transferring from Chicago State.
• Glover is third on the team with 10.4 points per game
• He made a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points at Pitt-Johnstown (Jan. 13)
• Glover scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting at Kutztown (Dec. 5)
• Glover has reached double-figures in scoring nine times, including three 20-point performances
• Glover ranks fourth in the PSAC with a 42.3 three-point field percentage and is fifth with 41 made three-pointers
• Glover grabbed a career-high nine rebounds against Urbana (Nov. 13) and has a season-high three assists four times

BRANDON SPAIN FINDING HIS NITCH
Jr. G Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) has stepped up his game since being reinserted into the starting lineup against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9). In four starts since then he's averaging 10.0 points and 3.3 rebounds and is shooting 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the floor. 
• Spain leads IUP and is tied for sixth in the PSAC with 32 steals
• He has 10 multi-steal games, including a season-high four steals in 25 minutes against Millersville (Jan. 6)
• Scored season-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting and had five rebounds against Slippery Rock

DADDY UGBEDE AGAIN PERFORMING CONSISTENTLY
Sr. F Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) is second on the team with 11.9 points per game despite playing in just 19.4 minutes per contest. His 69.0 field goal percentage would rank first in the PSAC and 10th in the country if he had enough made field goals to qualify. 
• He's averaging 20.0 points and shooting 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the field in his last two games
• Ugbede had a season-high 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting in 23 minutes against Slippery Rock
• He's reached double-figures in scoring in each of his last four
• He's made 50 percent of his shots in 15 of 17 games
