Crimson Hawks Take 13-Game Win Streak to Slippery Rock

THE GAME AT A GLANCE
Now winners of 13 straight games, the Crimson Hawks head to Slippery Rock for a PSAC West conference clash on Saturday night. Tipoff at the Morrow Field House is scheduled for 7 p.m. IUP is coming off of its closest win of its streak, a narrow 69-68 come-from-behind victory at Clarion on Wednesday night. The Crimson Hawks enter this weekend with a first round bye already sewn up with a 16-3 conference record, but will clinch a division title with a victory over The Rock. Slippery Rock has won three of its last four games, including a 10-point road win over PSAC West second place Mercyhurst on Jan. 27. The Rock enter this weekend in a battle for their playoff lives as they are currently tied with Seton Hill for the final postseason spot in the division with an 8-10 conference record.

STORYLINES
• IUP's current 13-game win streak is its longest since winning 14 straight to start the 2013-14 season
• IUP HC Joe Lombardi has more wins over Slippery Rock than any other opponent, boasting a 19-5 (.791) record since the 2006-07 season
• IUP has won three straight games over The Rock, with its last loss coming on Jan. 17 of last season, falling to SRU 75-71 at Morrow Field House; The Crimson Hawks have lost two of their last three games at Slippery Rock
• Lombardi is 4-5 against Slippery Rock at Morrow Field House; His last win at Slippery Rock was 69-55 on Feb. 26 during the 2013-14 season
• The Crimson Hawks will be looking for their sixth regular season sweep of Slippery Rock in the Lombardi era
• IUP has a 7-3 road record this year, including five straight victories dating back to the Cheyney win
• Slippery Rock owns an 8-3 record at home, including three straight wins over Edinboro, UPJ and California
• IUP is 12-1 against PSAC West opponents this year, owning a 12-game divisional win-streak that dates back to its 72-61 win at Gannon on Dec. 1
• This game marks the 306th of Lombardi's IUP tenure, the third most of any coach in program history (Carl Davis and Peck McKnight, 323)
• IUP is outscoring opponents by an average of 14.3 points during its win streak; It's largest win was the 27-point victory at Cheyney with the smallest coming on Wednesday over Clarion (one point)
• IUP is third in the PSAC and 24th in the nation giving up 67.8 points per game; The Crimson Hawks have limited opponents to 70 or fewer points 16 times, including each of the last six games
• The Crimson Hawks have also held 22 of their 24 opponents under their season scoring average
• Slippery Rock is 14th in the PSAC in scoring, averaging 70.0 points per game, although The Rock is averaging just 63.4 points and has scored 70 just once in the last five games 
• IUP's game at 10th-ranked Fairmont State on Dec. 12 was the Crimson Hawks' first regular season game against a ranked opponent in recent history, as IUP's nationally-ranked opponents usually come in the postseason; IUP went 3-1 against ranked opponents in the NCAA tournament last year
• The Crimson Hawks have played eight games against 2015 NCAA tournament teams and have a 6-2 record in those games, with wins over University of the Sciences, American International, Gannon twice, Slippery Rock, and Mercyhurst; The losses have come at Mercyhurst and at Fairmont State 

BRANDON NORFLEET AMONG BEST PLAYERS IN THE ATLANTIC REGION
Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) is IUP's top scoring threat and statistically all-around best player. He leads IUP in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, three-point percentage, free throw percentage, assists, and minutes played. He's also second three-pointers made, total rebounds and steals. 
• Norfleet scored a career-high 38 points against Seton Hill (Jan. 20); It's the second most in the PSAC this season
• He has 16 20-point games, including three 30-point performances; Norfleet had a recent streak of seven straight 20-point games snapped last Saturday 
• Norfleet is averaging 23.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds during IUP's current 13-game win streak
• He averaged 25.0 points, shot 50.0 perfect from the floor and 57.6 percent from three-point range during the month of January
• He has won the PSAC West Athlete of the Week award twice (Jan. 11 & Feb. 1)
• Norfleet has scored 1,551 career points and has 78 double-digit scoring games; He has 1,198 points in 83 games at IUP (14.4/game)
• He's one of five players in Division II - and one of two in the Atlantic Region - with at least 500 points and 100 assists this season
• Norfleet tied a career-high with nine assists vs. Cal (Dec. 16) and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds at Shippensburg (Dec. 4)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and ranks No. 16 in the country in total points (535)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 21 in the country in points per game (22.3)

ANTHONY GLOVER HAS BEEN AN ADDED SCORING THREAT
So. G Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) has been a welcome addition in his first year after transferring from Chicago State.
• Glover is third on the team with 10.8 points per game
• Glover has reached double-figures in scoring 13 times, including four 20-point performances
• Glover scored a career-high 23 points vs. Edinboro (Feb. 6)
• He made a career-high six three-pointers at UPJ (Jan. 13)
• Glover ranks third in the PSAC with a 42.9 three-point field percentage and is fifth with 51 made three-pointers

CRIMSON HAWKS FEATURE TOP TWO FRESHMEN IN PSAC WEST
Fr. F Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) and Fr. G Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) have won a combined six of the 12 PSAC West Freshman of the Week awards.
• Diaz leads IUP with 6.4 rebounds per game and is fifth with 7.9 points per game
• Lombardi is fourth on the team with 8.3 points per game and second with 72 assists

BRANDON SPAIN FINDING HIS NICHE
Jr. G Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) has stepped up his game since being reinserted into the starting lineup against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9). In nine starts since, he's averaging 9.2 points and is shooting 54.0 percent (34-of-63) from the floor.
• Hit the game-winner in IUP's 68-66 win over Mercyhurst (Feb. 3)
• Spain is second in the PSAC with 46 steals, including a season-high five steals against Cal (Jan. 27) and Gannon (Jan. 30)
• Scored season-high 15 points against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9)

DADDY UGBEDE AGAIN PERFORMING CONSISTENTLY
Sr. F Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) is second on the team with 12.4 points per game despite playing in just 19.8 minutes per contest. His 71.6 field goal percentage would rank first in the PSAC and second in the country if he had enough made field goals to qualify. 
• He's averaging 15.7 points and shooting 80.7 percent (46-of-57) from the field in his last seven games
• Ugbede had a season-high 22 points vs. Slippery Rock (Jan. 9)
• He's reached double-figures in scoring in each of his last eight
• He's made 50 percent of his shots in 19 of 21 games
