Men's Hoops Hosts Pitt-Johnstown in Tuesday's PSAC Quarterfinals

THE GAME AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks will be competing in the postseason for the 29th time in program history when they host Pitt-Johnstown in the PSAC quarterfinals on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The PSAC West Champion Crimson Hawks earned a first round bye with their number one seed while UPJ defeated Seton Hill 81-72 at home on Saturday. The Mountain Cats are the fourth seed in the PSAC West. IUP will be looking to rebound from its tough 91-83 loss in the regular season finale at Seton Hill last week. The Crimson Hawks swept the season series with UPJ, earning wins of 86-74 in Johnstown on Jan. 13 and 84-77 in the KCAC on Senior Night on Feb. 17. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of West Chester and East Stroudsburg (bracket on page 7).

STORYLINES
• This is the Crimson Hawks' ninth straight PSAC tournament appearance, the second longest streak in program history (10 from 1993-02)
• This is also IUP's 29th all-time appearance in the PSAC tournament
• IUP HC Joe Lombardi is 13-5 in his eight previous appearances, including PSAC championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013
• This will be the first ever postseason matchup between these two schools
• Lombardi is 7-2 in his career against UPJ; The seven wins have all come since 2013 when UPJ joined the PSAC
• The Crimson Hawks were ranked sixth in the NCAA's Division II Atlantic Region rankings last week; Wheeling Jesuit was first, followed by West Liberty (second), Fairmont State (third), Kutztown (fourth), West Chester (fifth), IUP (sixth), Virginia STate (seventh) and East Stroudsburg (eighth)
• IUP's recent 13-game win streak was its longest since winning 14 straight to start the 2013-14 season
• The Crimson Hawks are 13-2 at home this season, outscoring opponents 78.9 to 68.4
• IUP has an 18-5 record in home PSAC tournament games, including a 5-1 mark in the KCAC
• IUP is 13-3 against PSAC West opponents this year, including a 12-game divisional win-streak
• The Mountain Cats play better on the road, as they boast a 12-4 record away from their home gym; UPJ is 3-2 in the KCAC this year, playing in IUP's Atlantic Region Challenge and IRMC Classic
• This game marks the 308th of Lombardi's IUP tenure, the third most of any coach in program history (Carl Davis and Peck McKnight, 323)
• IUP is third in the PSAC and 36th in the nation giving up 69.2 points per game; The Crimson Hawks have limited opponents to 70 or fewer points 16 times, including six of the last nine games
• The Crimson Hawks have also held 23 of their 27 opponents under their season scoring average
• UPJ's Nate Snodgrass (46.3 pct) and AJ Leahey (45.9 pct) are the top two three-point shooters in the PSAC 
• UPJ is fourth in the PSAC averaging 78.4 points, scoring 80 or more points 15 times
• The Crimson Hawks were 6-3 this season against teams who played in last year's NCAA tournament
• IUP's game at 10th-ranked Fairmont State on Dec. 12 was the Crimson Hawks' first regular season game against a ranked opponent in recent history, as IUP's nationally-ranked opponents usually come in the postseason; IUP went 3-1 against ranked opponents in the NCAA tournament last year

BRANDON NORFLEET AMONG BEST PLAYERS IN THE ATLANTIC REGION
Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) is IUP's top scoring threat and statistically all-around best player. He leads IUP in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, three-point percentage, free throw percentage, assists, and minutes played. He's also second three-pointers made, total rebounds and steals. 
• Norfleet scored a career-high 38 points against Seton Hill (Jan. 20); It's the second most in the PSAC this season
• He has 19 20-point games, including four 30-point performances; Norfleet had a streak of seven straight 20-point games earlier this season
• Two of his 30-point games came against Pitt-Johnstown, scoring 31 in each contest
• Norfleet is averaging 22.2 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds in the month of February
• He averaged 25.0 points, shot 50.0 perfect from the floor and 57.6 percent from three-point range during the month of January
• He has won the PSAC West Athlete of the Week award twice (Jan. 11 & Feb. 1)
• Norfleet has scored 1,626 career points and has 81 double-digit scoring games; He has 1,273 points in 86 games at IUP (14.8/game)
• He's the only player in the Atlantic Region with at least 600 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists
• Norfleet tied a career-high with nine assists vs. Cal (Dec. 16) and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds at Shippensburg (Dec. 4)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and ranks No. 28 in the country in total points (608)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 22 in the country in points per game (22.5)
• Norfleet is No. 1 the PSAC and ranks No. 23 in the country in field goals made (221)
• Norfleet is No. 11 in the PSAC in field goal percentage (.463)
• Norfleet is tied for No. 7 in the PSAC in free throws made (118)
• Norfleet is No. 10 in the PSAC in free throw percentage (.803)
• Norfleet is No. 6 in the PSAC in assists (121)
• Norfleet is No. 5 in the PSAC in assists per game (4.5)
• Norfleet is No. 2 in the PSAC and No. 44 in the country in total minutes played (990)
• Norfleet is No. 3 in the PSAC and No. 21 in the country in minutes per game (36.7)

ANTHONY GLOVER HAS BEEN AN ADDED SCORING THREAT
So. G Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) has been a welcome addition in his first year after transferring from Chicago State.
• Glover is third on the team with 10.0 points per game
• Glover has reached double-figures in scoring 13 times, including four 20-point performances
• Glover scored a career-high 23 points vs. Edinboro (Feb. 6)
• He made a career-high six three-pointers at UPJ (Jan. 13)
• Glover ranks sixth in the PSAC with a 40.9 three-point field percentage and is tied for 13th with 52 made three-pointers

CRIMSON HAWKS FEATURE TOP TWO FRESHMEN IN PSAC WEST
Fr. F Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) and Fr. G Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) have won a combined eight of the 14 PSAC West Freshman of the Week awards.
• Diaz leads IUP with 6.4 rebounds per game and is fifth with 8.3 points per game
• Lombardi is fourth on the team with 8.5 points per game and second with 78 assists

BRANDON SPAIN FINDING HIS NICHE
In his 12 games since being reinsterted back into the starting lineup against Slippery Rock on Jan. 9, Jr. G Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) is averaging 8.7 points and 4.0 rebounds and is shooting 54.8 percent from the field, including 10-19 from three, and is also 14-17 from the foul line.
• Hit the game-winner in IUP's 68-66 win over Mercyhurst (Feb. 3)
• Spain is third in the PSAC with 50 steals, including a season-high five steals against Cal (Jan. 27) and Gannon (Jan. 30)
• Scored season-high 15 points against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9)

DADDY UGBEDE AGAIN PERFORMING CONSISTENTLY
Sr. F Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) is second on the team with 12.4 points per game despite playing in just 19.9 minutes per contest. His 70.3 field goal percentage would rank first in the PSAC and second in the country if he had enough made field goals to qualify. 
• Ugbede had a season-high 26 points at Seton Hill (Feb. 24)
• He's reached double-figures in scoring in 18 of his 25 games
• He's made 50 percent of his shots in 22 of 25 games
