The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, native and Ohio Woodridge graduate has accumulated 110 credits towards her natural science degree while boasting a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
It marks the second straight year an IUP runner took home the award, following
Jenna Lezanic (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) last year.
IUP leads the way in Champion Scholars
Dryer represents IUP's 22nd PSAC Champion Scholar since the award came into existence during the 2011-12 season. It's the most of any school in the conference. She's the first PSAC Champion Scholar for IUP this season after earning four during 2016-17.
