The 18th-ranked IUP women's lacrosse team resumes Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play when it travels to Shippensburg on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m. at The Crimson Hawks are coming off an 14-12 loss at home to Tiffin on Wednesday. The Raiders dropped a 14-11 decision at home to Lock Haven on Tuesday.Â
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
* The Crimson Hawks resume Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Saturday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 1 p.m. contest. Since 1998, the Crimson Hawks are 8-16 against the Raiders. IUP, however, will be looking to extend its winning streak to six straight over Shippensburg
* On Monday, the new IWLCA national rankings were announced, with IUP falling one spot to 18th in the 20-team poll; IUP opened the season ranked 14th in the country
* Sophomore attacker
Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) tallied her fifth multi-goal of the game as she scored four goals in IUP's 14-12 loss to Tiffin on Wednesday evening.
* The trio of
Carissa Smith (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick),
Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and
Kelly Shields (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) each scored two goals in the loss
* The game was evenly matched throughout as Tiffin held a slim 25-23 shot advantage, while IUP held a 21-20 shots on goal margin. The Dragons totaled 18 ground balls compared to 17 ground balls for the Crimson Hawks
* Shields finished with a team-high three assists while collecting three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Hannah Bertolo (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) also added three ground balls while a total of four other players each recorded two ground balls
* Burrows leads the team with 20 goals and 21 points in six games, while Greco has 19 goals and 20 points
* Bertolo ranks second in the PSACÂ with 4.33 ground ball pickups per game
