GREENSBORO, N.C. – IUP juniors
Nicole Smith (Dover, PA/Dover) and
Regan Chalk (Hanover, PA/New Oxford) competed on the third day of the 2018 NCAA Division II Swimming Championships Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Smith broke her own school record in the consolation finals of the 500 yard freestyle, finishing 11th overall with a time of 4:56.19. It's her second honorable mention All-American honor in as many days, as she was 13th in the 200 free on Thursday.

That was actually the second time on Friday that she broke her own record, racing to a time of 4:56.77 and cutting her previous mark by 0:01.31 in the prelims session. Smith finished 12th overall in the preliminaries to advance to Friday's finals.
Chalk made her career debut at the NCAA Championships in the morning, swimming in the prelims of the 200 yard butterfly. She finished 20th overall with a personal best time of 2:04.57.
Up next
Smith will compete in the 100 freestyle on the final day of the championships Saturday.
