LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The IUP men's track & field program was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as the sport's winner of the Team GPA Award for the 2017-18 academic year.
The indoor and outdoor track & field programs under the direction of head coach
Joey Zins posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.187. Trailing IUP was Slippery Rock at 3.168 and Cheyney at 3.158.

PSAC announces 2017-18 Top Team GPA awards
Senior
Austin Cooper earned PSAC Top 10 honors after the winter and spring seasons and finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.88. Other individual top GPA performers included
Sam Lenze at 4.00,
Noah Mandel at 3.96,
John Michael Mihalek at 3.90, and
Dylan Ruefle at 3.82.
IUP ranks sixth in PSAC
As an overall athletic program, IUP finished sixth overall in the PSAC with a cumulative GPA of 3.272. Ahead of the Crimson Hawks this year were Gannon (3.419), Seton Hill (3.374), California (3.287), Slippery Rock (3.286) and Mercyhurst (3.281).
Out of 17 sport programs at IUP, women's volleyball was the top performer with a 3.612 cumulative GPA. A total of 15 programs finished with a 3.00 GPA or better.
PSAC academic awards
The awards, released at the end of the academic year, honor the teams with the top cumulative grade point average in each of the sponsored sports within the PSAC. The league hosts 23 championships, however, for the award purposes, indoor and outdoor track & field are counted as a single sport.
