INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's lacrosse program was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as the sport's winner of the Top Team GPA Award for the 2019-20 academic year.
Under the direction of head coach
Brenna Gallagher, the Crimson Hawks posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.655 during the fall and spring semesters. West Chester's women's lacrosse program trailed with a 3.595 while Gannon was third with a 3.567 GPA.
This marks the 10th time since the creation of these PSAC team GPA awards that an IUP program has taken home top billing, including the first time for IUP women's lacrosse.
A total of 20 women's lacrosse student-athletes landed on the PSAC Scholar-Athletes list, posting a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.25. Twelve of those posted perfect 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester, including

Abigail Cermak,
Maura Columbus,
Leah Hunter,
Victoria Kerkovich,
Kelly Macnamara,
Carly Mansur,
Maggie Marsteller,
Gianna Piocquidio,
Claire Richardson,
Sami Shutt and
Kayte Zeiler.
They helped IUP accumulate a 3.89 team grade point average in the spring.
PSAC academic awards
The awards, released at the end of the academic year, honor the teams with the top cumulative grade point average in each of the sponsored sports within the PSAC. The league hosts 23 championships, however, for the award purposes, indoor and outdoor track & field are counted as a single sport.
