Support IUP Athletics on #GivingTuesday

INDIANA, Pa. – Support the IUP athletic department and student-athletes on Giving Tuesday, set for Tuesday, November 29.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity initiative that started in 2012, which has blossomed into a movement that inspires millions to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

This year, there are additional incentives to support the athletic program of your choice. The team with the most donations and funds raised will each receive an additional $1500 this year.

"Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity for all our constituent groups to make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and coaches," IUP director of athletics Todd Garzarelli said. "By providing philanthropic support to our athletic programs, you are allowing us to continue to compete for championship success in each of our programs both in and out of the classroom. These championship resources are essential to our overall success as an athletic department."

There are many outlets to make a tax-deductible gift to support IUP Athletics throughout the year. Funds are used to support student-athlete scholarships, operating costs, facility upgrades and more.

If you are able, donate HERE and specify your designation to IUP Athletics or the program of your choosing.

IUP boasts a rich tradition in athletics both in and out of the classroom. The Crimson Hawks set a new department record with 274 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar Athletes during the 2021-22 academic year, which requires a cumulative GPA of a 3.25 or better.

IUP has provided no shortage of memorable moments over the last few months across the department. The men's basketball team advanced to the national semifinals with a 33-3 mark in 2021-22, while women's basketball made a program-record seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

The women's swimming program had seven individual All-American honors at last year's national championships, while the women's tennis program earned its second consecutive PSAC Championship in the spring of 2022.

So far during the 2022-23 season, the men's golf program captured its fourth straight and record 32nd PSAC Championship. Karolin Kirchtag earned the PSAC singles championship in October and the women's volleyball program made its return to the PSAC and NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017.

Earning the program's 20th NCAA Playoff appearance, the IUP football team won the PSAC Championship against Shepherd back on November 12 at Miller Stadium. Earning the top seed in Super Region One, the Crimson Hawks defeated Ashland last weekend and host Shepherd in a rematch for the Super Region One Championship on December 3.
