MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Evan Weaver finished second overall in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase as the IUP track & field teams competed during the second day of the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championships Friday afternoon.
Weaver posted a career-best time of 9:16.32 to finish just four seconds back of event champion Ward Ries of Edinboro.
Weaver was one of two Hawks to score in the event, with
Dan Gibney finishing in seventh with a season-best time of 9:36.02.
Also scoring for the men was
Jayden Thomas, who tied for eighth in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.92 meters (6-03.50).
Five individual runners and one relay advanced to Sunday's finals after Saturday's prelims.
Cassidy Kline was second in the women's 400 hurdles prelims with a career-best time of 1:02.89. Also on the women's side,
Cahsia Page was second in the 100 meters with a personal best of 12.23 seconds.
The men saw
Kendall Branan,
Noah Shannon-Hatchett, and
Justin Egizio, along with the 4x100 relay team, advance past the prelims. Branan was third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.31, Shannon-Hatchett was fifth in the 100 meters witha personal best off 10.91 seconds, and Egizio had a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 49.14.
The 4x100 relay team of
Trenton Jubin, Egizio,
Lawrence Anderson and Shannon-Hatchett posted a time of 42.06 to finish fourth in the prelims.
Team rankings
The men have scored 10.5 points so far and are ninth of 13 teams. The women are among three teams who have not yet scored.
