MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore
Cassidy Kline won the women's 400 meter hurdles as the IUP track & field teams wrapped up their weekend at the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championship Saturday at Millersville University.
Kline posted a career-best time of 1:01.55, edging out second place Taniyah Lawler of Kutztown by just 0.44 seconds. Kline bettered her previous career-best, equaled in the prelims the day before, by 1.34 seconds.
More importantly, her time hit an NCAA Division II provisional mark and is the second fastest time in the Atlantic Region, and 27th in Division II, this season. It was the fastest 400 hurdle time by an IUP athlete since Jada Wilson ran a 1:01.36 in 2018.
Kline's performance was one of three NCAA provisional marks for the Crimson Hawks on Saturday. On the women's side,
Hailey Dodson hit a personal-best of 13.99 meters (45-10.75) in the shot put. Her toss was good for third overall, 21 inches behind champion Elizabeth Makar of East Stroudsburg.
For the men,
Kendall Branan hit a personal best and improved his NCAA provisional time in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 1:51.10. He was second overall.
In addition to Kline, Dodson and Branan, IUP had six more scorers on Saturday.
For the women,
Cahsia Page sprinted to a third place in the 100 meters, tying a PR with a time of 12.23 seconds.
Four men's individuals and one relay team finished within the top-8 on Saturday.
Evan Weaver scored for the second time on the weekend, posting a fourth place finish in the 5K with a time of 15:06.16. Two sprinters,
Noah Shannon-Hatchett and
Justin Egizio, also scored by finishing fifth in their respective events. Shannon-Hatchett posted a time of 10.95 seconds in the 100 meters and Egizio finished the 400 meters with a time of 49.14 seconds. Those two also helped the 4x100 relay team to a third place finish -
Trenton Jubin, Egizio,
Lawrence Anderson, and Shannon-Hatchett posted a time of 41.81 seconds. In the field,
Jayden Thomas tied for eighth in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.92 meters (6-03.50).
Team Standings
IUP finished ninth of 13 teams in the men's standings with 37.5 points. Shippensburg won the team title with 200 points, Slippery Rock was second with 118.5 points and East Stroudsburg was third with 104.5.
On the women's side, IUP finished 13th out of 15 teams with 21.5 points. Millersville won the title with 113 points, Slippery Rock was second with 93.33 points, and Shippensburg was third with 87 points.
