YORK, Pa. – IUP swimming maintained its positioning in the team standings, while
Rachel Johnson highlighted three NCAA B Cuts with a victory in the 100 breast on Friday at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
IUP recorded three NCAA B Cut marks on Friday, bringing its total to 10 throughout the championships.
Rachel Johnson, who also won the preliminaries, was victorious in the 100 breast in 1:02.64, marking another conference title for the women's team with an NCAA B Cut standard.
Erin Moyer posted third in the event with her time of 1:05.19.
IUP began the finals session on Friday with the women's 200 medley relay posting third in 1:46.53.
Jordan Crupie, Moyer,
Paige Mikesell and
Amber Baldani led the Hawks to yet another successful relay at the conference championships.
The men's 200 medley relay grouping of
Alexander Roth,
Julien Dampenon,
Ryan Hartmann and
Thomas McGillan followed suit in third overall with a 1:31.80.
Luke Mikesell posted second overall in the 500 free with an NCAA B Cut mark of 4:28.97, notching a big improvement from his prelim time earlier in the day. The Hawks had three swimmers qualify for the A Final of the women's 100 back, including Baldani (4th; 57.76),
Parker Fanella (5th; 58.48) and Crupie (7th; 58.59).
Roth continued his busy finals session with a second-place finish in the B Final of the 100 back (51.63). Hartmann posted a similar result in the men's 100 breast, finishing second in the B Final with his time of 57.88.
Mikesell rounded out Friday's action with another impressive second place finish at the championships, logging a 2:01.80 in the 200 fly for an NCAA B Cut standard.
Emma McCombs followed closely behind in fifth, just touching before Clarion's Emma Dorsey.
IUP finishes action at the 2023 PSAC Swimming Championships on Saturday, February 18 with the prelims starting at 10:00 a.m. The final session of the championships will follow later in the day, starting at 5:00 p.m.
