INDIANA, Pa. -- In the second release of NCAA regional rankings, the IUP women's basketball team landed second in the list of 10 schools. Wednesday's poll marked the first numerical release of teams in each region after the initial poll listed programs "under consideration" in alphabetical order.
The Atlantic Region rankings considered games through February 26. The Crimson Hawks have locked up a PSAC Tournament berth and will host a PSAC First Round matchup at the KCAC on Monday, March 3 with a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
The Crimson Hawks boast a 18-5 in-region record at the time of the release.
Seton Hill claimed the top spot in the regional rankings with a 21-4 in region record. Edinboro claimed the third spot, followed by Gannon and Fairmont State to round out the top five. Other PSAC opponents include Kutztown in seventh, Cal U in eighth, and Lock Haven in ninth.
The final set of numerical rankings will be released Wednesday, March 5 ahead of the full bracket reveal on Sunday, March 9. These regional rankings ultimately determine the teams selected to the NCAA Tournament. Eight schools from eight different regions will make up the 2024-25 NCAA DII Women's Basketball Tournament field of 64 teams.
