OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – A strong second round highlighted an otherwise up and down tournament for the IUP men's golf program during the 54-hole Trevecca Music City Invitational, held March 31-April 1 at the Hermitage Golf Club.
IUP finished 11th in the team standings with a 54-hole total of 863, which included a collective 279 (-1) in the second round on Monday afternoon. Individually,
Alex Swinnerton paced the IUP lineup with a three-round score of 209, tying for 10th place.
It marks the fifth top-10 individual finish for Swinnerton across eight events this fall/spring. Swinnerton boasts 16 finishes inside the top 10 over his collegiate career after rounds of 72, 69 (-1) and 68 (-2) in Tennessee.
Swinnerton carded two of IUP's three total rounds under par in the tournament, alongside
John Olsen's second round 69. Olsen finished tied for 37th, while
Ben De Castro followed closely behind in a tie for 42nd (219).
Guillermo Salazar (T48; 220) and
Trevor Todd (76; 226) rounded out the Crimson Hawk lineup. IUP dropped in 44 birdies across the tournament, good for third in the field.
