SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The IUP track and field team sent two athletes to compete at the River Hawk Multi two day event at Susqhenna University. Sophomore Elijah Lingenfelter competed in the men's decathlon (orange) and junior
Renee Simmonds competed in the women's heptathlon (maroon).
Day one
After the first day of competition, Lingenfelter sat in sixth with 3003 points and Simmonds was in third with 2682 points.
Lingenfelter's highest finish of the day came in the high jump with a third place finish (1.86m). Other events he competed in were the 100m (14th; 12.19), long jump (6th; 6.33m), shot put (7th; 10.23m), and the 400m (11th; 56.18).
Simmond's posted a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.33m. Other finishes throughout the day included the 100m hurdles (7th; 15.72), high jump (10th; 1.48m), and the 200m (7th; 27.75).
Day two
After the second day of competition, Lingenfelter placed fifth with 5525 points. Highlighting day two was his first place finish in the javelin throw of 54.58m. Other events included the 100m hurdles (7th; 17.14), discus throw (5th; 30.76m), pole vault (12th; 2.80m), and the 1500m (9th; 5:16.86).
Simmonds wrapped up the meet in sixth with 4121 points. On the second day, she competed in the long jump (11th; 4.59m), javelin throw (9th; 26.81), and the 800m (8th; 2:40.08).
