Crittenden Earns Honorable Mention All-American in 400 IM at NCAA Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – IUP Crimson Hawks women's swimming and diving sophomore Gem Crittenden returned to the pool Thursday for her second of three events at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.

Crittenden competed in the 400 individual medley, an event in which she was recently crowned champion at the PSAC Swimming Championships.

Entering the race as the No. 18 seed with a season-best time of 4:23.46, Crittenden improved her standing during the prelims. With the top 16 swimmers earning All-American recognition, she finished 15th overall to claim Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Crittenden posted a time of 4:25.37 in the 400 IM, finishing just behind her previous best.

She will wrap up her championships Friday in the 200 butterfly. Meanwhile, junior teammate Kasha Stokes will begin her events, competing in the 100 backstroke Friday before swimming the 200 backstroke on Saturday.
