PITTSBURGH, PA -
Alyssa Taddie (Homer City/Homer-Center) led three Crimson Hawks runners in the top 10 as IUP took home the team title at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Taddie finished second overall with an 18:25.4 in the 5K, three seconds off the lead.
Steph Beaudette (Johnston, RI/Saint Mary Academy Bay View) finished right behind her with a time of 18:32.4, good enough for fourth while
Samantha Thompson (DuBois/DuBois) came in ninth with a time of 18:52.7.
Rachel Magliane (Danville, Pa. /Danville) continued the success, coming in 13th with a time of 18:57.5 while
Katie Koenig (Montgomery Village, MD/Good Counsel) crossed the line in 16th with a time of 19:10.7.
Also running was
Jane Looby (Canton, OH/Glen Oak), who finished with a time of 19:33.7 and
Yelena Share (Milton, Pa. /Milton) who came in with a time of 19:48.6.
At press time, the men's results had still not been released due to a timing issue.
This was the final tuneup for the Crimson Hawks before the PSAC Championships on October 20 in Slippery Rock.
UPDATE: Victor Costello (Moscow/North Pocono) finished 18th overall to lead the men to an eighth place finish on Saturday. Costello's time of 26:17.9 was a shade over two minutes off the overall lead.
Ray Ofman (Armagh, Pa. /United) came in 22nd place overall with a 26:22.7 while
Matt Rutt (Sinking Spring/Wilson) was the third men's finisher, coming in 37th place with a time of 26:49.1.
Tim Lynch (Harleysville, Pa. /Souderton) and
Caleb Cordell (Erie, Pa. /McDowell) finished back-to-back in 64th and 65th place with times of 27:55.3 and 27:59.5, respectively.
Alexander Kolesar (North Huntingdon/Norwin) crossed the line not too far behind, coming in with a time of 28:33.1.
