CALIFORNIA, PA -
Steph Beaudette (Johnston, RI/Saint Mary Academy Bay View) took first place for the women and
Matt Rutt (Sinking Spring/Wilson) finished with an individual third for the men as the the IUP cross country teams both took home first place finishes at the Marty Uher Invitational Saturday.
Beaudette finished the 5K in 19:44, 17 seconds ahead of teammate
Rachel Magliane (Danville, Pa. /Danville) who finished second with a 20:01 in her first collegiate meet.
Samantha Thompson (DuBois/DuBois) didn't finish far behind, coming in fourth overall with a time of 20:08 while
Alyssa Taddie (Homer City/Homer-Center) made it four Crimson Hawks in the top five with a time of 20:23.
Yelena Share (Milton, Pa. /Milton) placed ninth with a 21:22 mark and
Jackie Beisel (Clymer/Penns Manor) 12th at 21:29.
Katie Koenig (Montgomery Village, MD/Good Counsel) wrapped up a successful outing with a 21:50.
Rutt (29:08) was one of three IUP runners to finish in the top five on the men's side, as
Victor Costello (Moscow/North Pocono) posted a fourth place time of 29:26 and
Ray Ofman (Armagh, Pa. /United) followed with a time of 21:31.
Tim Lynch (Harleysville, Pa. /Souderton) finished in 14th with a time of 30:56, while
Alexander Kolesar (North Huntingdon/Norwin) finished just outside the top 15 with a time of 31:11.
Joey Franze (Wexford, Pa. /North Allegheny) and
Caleb Cordell (Erie, Pa. /McDowell) also had strong showings for the Crimson Hawks, posting times of 31:53 and 32:11, respectively.
IUP is back in action in two weeks when the Crimson Hawks run at Iona College's Meet of Champions on September 15.
