IUP Women Finish Fourth, Men 10th at Lehigh's Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, PA – Steph Beaudette (Johnston, RI/Saint Mary Academy Bay View) finished 14th overall on the women's side while Clinton Keller (Wernersville/Conrad Weiser) was the top IUP men's finisher as the Crimson Hawks cross country teams competed in the 39th Annual Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Friday.

The women finished fourth out of 39 teams in the College Brown race while the men came in 10th out of 39th on their side of the College Brown race.

Beaudette paced the Crimson Hawks women with a time of 22:22 on the 6k run, just 32 seconds off the lead. The strong team finished was helped by Samantha Thompson (DuBois/DuBois), who came in 22nd with a time of 22:39 and Alyssa Taddie (Homer City/Homer-Center) who finished 44th overall with a time of 23:06.

Rachel Magliane (Danville, Pa. /Danville) was IUP's fourth finisher, coming in right behind Taddie with a time of 23:12 while Jane Looby (Canton, OH/Glen Oak) wasn't far behind with a time of 23:23. Katie Koenig (Montgomery Village, MD/Good Counsel) finished with a 23:40 while Yelena Share (Milton, Pa. /Milton) came across the line in 24:04.

The women finished with 192 points, just five behind Princeton for third place overall.

Over with the men, Keller's time of 26:16 in the 8k race was good enough for 40th overall. Victor Costello (Moscow/North Pocono) came in 55th place with a time of 26:27 while Ray Ofman (Armagh, Pa. /United) finished in 26:31. Matt Rutt (Sinking Spring/Wilson) crossed the line in 26:49 and Josh Joson (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) did so in 26:52.

The men's point total was 348, putting them four behind The College of New Jersey for ninth and 53 points off of Shippensburg for eight.

After today's successful runs, the Crimson Hawks are back in action next weekend when they travel over to Pittsburgh to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, October 6.
