Women's Lacrosse Remains Perfect with 18-3 Victory Over Kutztown

INDIANA, PA - Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and Drew Hayden (Gibsonia/Pine Richland) each tallied four goals as the IUP women's lacrosse team remained undefeated with an 18-3 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe Kutztown Friday evening.

The Crimson Hawks improve to 11-0, the best start in program history, and sit atop the PSAC with an 8-0 league record. Kutztown falls to 2-11 and 1-7.

Sarah Ward (Murrysville/Franklin Regional ), Amy Weinberg (Clarksville, MD/Atholton), and Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) all had two goals on the night while Lodovici tied a season-high with six assists. Alex Edwards (Bethlehem/Nazareth), Michelle Zakrzewski (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley), Brenna Gallagher (Evans City/Seneca Valley) and Brittney Palardy (Perry Hall, MD/Perry Hall) all had one goal a piece.

Brielle Dickey would strike first for the Golden Bears giving them their only lead of the game at the 27:40 mark. The Crimson Hawks responded a 7-0 run, getting goals from seven different players. After a goal by Kutztown, the Crimson Hawks would close out the half with an unassisted goal by Zakrzewski to head into the break with an 8-2 lead.

Ward and Berlin would tallie two goals within 39 seconds of eachother at the start of the second half. After a 30 minute lightning delay, Kutztown's Rosa Buffolino would score the third and final goal for the Kutztown at the 24:30 mark. IUP would close the second half by scoring the final eight goals of the game.

Chelsey Hipp (Clarksville, MD/Good Counsel) got the win in the net for the Crimson Hawks, tallying a save as IUP limited Kutztown to just four shots.

The 13th-ranked Crimson Hawks are back on the field tomorrow night when they host fifth-ranked West Chester (10-2, 7-0) in the biggest game in program history. Start time is set for 5:30 p.m.
