Crimson Hawks Remain Undefeated with Second Half Comeback at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, PA – Colleen Berlin (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) scored three goals during a 6-0 run in the second half as the Crimson Hawks rallied for a 13-10 win at Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's lacrosse action on Friday afternoon.

Down 8-6 at the start of the second half, Berlin tallied a pair of goals in a two minute span to jumpstart six consecutive goals as IUP took a 12-8 lead midway through the period.

Alexa Lodovici (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) added two of her four goals during the run while Drew Hayden (Gibsonia/Pine Richland) scored the other.

The Huskies came back with a pair of goals to make it 12-10 with 3:15 remaining but IUP's defense held firm, allowing just one shot in the final minutes to secure the three goal win.

With the win the Crimson Hawks improve their record start to 7-0, including a 4-0 mark in PSAC play. Bloomsburg falls to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

IUP held a 4-2 lead in the first half before a 4-1 run by the Huskies helped give them a 7-6 lead heading into the halftime break.

Berlin finished with a game-high five goals while Lodovici added four assists to her four strikes.

Kaitlin Sterling (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) notched the win in the net for the Crimson Hawks, allowing just three goals while playing in the second half. Lauren Gibson (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) caused three turnovers while picking up five ground balls. Amy Weinberg (Clarksville, MD/Atholton) led the Crimson Hawks with five draw controls.

The Crimson Hawks return to the field on Saturday when they play at East Stroudsburg. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
