NORMAN, Okla. – IUP's
Brett Geiser (Markham, Ont. /Markham District) has been named a 2015 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, which was recently announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
A junior business management major, Geiser will head into his final year at IUP with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average.
Geiser was fourth on the team this year with a 77.7 stroke average in 13 events, finishing in the top-15 five times, helping the Crimson Hawks to the program's eighth straight NCAA Championship appearance.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
A total of 206 players were honored, including 91 from Division II. Geiser was one of just three players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on the list, joined by Conor Gilbert from Millersville and Jordan Eck from California (Pa.).
This is the third straight year that IUP has boasted an All-America Scholar, including five times in the last six years. It's also head coach Fred Joseph's 17th All-America Scholar in his 23 years at IUP.
