DUBOIS, Pa. – Sophomore
Nate Guerrini (Collegville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) turned in a first place performance as he led IUP men's golf to a second place team finish at Clarion University's Hal Hansen Invitational at Treasure Lake Resort on Tuesday.
Guerrini finished with an even-144 for the two-day, two-round tournament, firing a career-best two-under 70 in Tuesday's final round. He sat three strokes back in a tie for fourth place after the opening round, shooting a two-over 74 on Monday.
RESULTS
Guerrini's Tuesday performance helped the Crimson Hawks claw from seven strokes back, nearly making up that ground but fell just one stroke short of West Liberty (599). IUP finished in a tie with Millersville for second place with a 24-over 600.
The Crimson Hawks shot a seven-over 295 on Tuesday, the best team performance of the tournament.
IUP's other four starters all finished in the top 35 overall, including senior
Michael Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) who tied for seventh overall with a five-over 149. Hoare was tied with Guerrini after the first round.
Junior
Matt Cocorikis (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) tied for 16th with an eight-over 152, senior
Joshua Bartley (Valencia, Pa./Mars) tied for 30th with an 11-over 155, and sophomore
Jeremy Eckenrode (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) tied for 35th with a 14-over 158.
Playing as individuals, freshman
Carter Snowden (Kitchener, ON, Canada/Huron Heights) tied for 14th with a seven-over 151, and senior
Tyler Erb (Toronto, ON, Canada/Etobicoke Collegiate Institute) tied for 53rd with a 30-over 174.

The Crimson Hawks' next tournament will be Gannon's Howard 'Bud' Elwell Classic at Whispering Wood Golf Club in Erie on Oct. 1-2.
