JACKSON SPRINGS, N.C. –
Nate Guerrini (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) tied for 11th overall as the IUP men's golf team finished third overall at the season-opening Brown Golf Intercollegiate at Foxfire Resort & Golf in North Carolina.
The Crimson Hawks ended the two-day event with a score of 315, 26 strokes back of team champion Wayne State (589). Charleston finished second with a team score of 312.

Guerrini finished the tournament with a 9-over 153. He was 11 strokes back of medalist Nikolas Senkowski (2-under 142) and four strokes back of Connor Sheehan (5-over 149) of Millersville, the top finisher from a PSAC school.
Joining Guerrini in the top 20 overall were
Matt Cocorikis (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) and
Michael Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley). Cocorikis had the best score by an IUP player Saturday with a 1-over 73, finishing the tournament in a tie for 13th at 10-over 154. Hoare shot a 6-over 78 each day to finish in a tie for 20th with a 12-over 156.
Jeremy Eckenrode (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) also had a good second round with a 2-over 74. He finished in a tie for 41st with an 18-over 162.
Joshua Bartley (Valencia, Pa./Mars) finished one stroke back of Eckenrode at 19-over 163.

The Crimson Hawks are back in action in two weeks with they compete in West Liberty's Oglebay Resort Intercollegiate, set for April 1-2 in Wheeling, W.Va.
