DANIELS, W.Va. – Led by senior
Michael Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), the IUP men's golf team sits in third place through two rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships at The Resort at Glade Springs Cobb Course.
The Crimson Hawks sit in third place and just two strokes back of the team lead with a 17-over 593 after two rounds of play.

It's tight at the top of the team rankings, with five squads separated by just one stroke apiece. Franklin Pierce leads the way at 15-over 591 while Concordia is second at 16-over 592. Trailing IUP is Le Moyne in fourth with an 18-over 594 and Charleston is fifth at 19-over 595.
IUP and the rest of the field is seeking one of the top three spots after Wednesday's final round, with those three schools earning bids to the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Hoare is the Crimson Hawks' top golfer through two rounds as he's tied for third overall with a one-under 143. He sits four strokes off the overall lead with Concordia's Minwoo Park on top at five-under 139. Ryan Rucinski of Wilmington is second with a two-under 142.
Hoare shot a one-over 73 Tuesday following his two-under 70 in the opening round.
Matt Cocorikis (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) is one of three golfers tied for 12th with a tournament score of three-over 147. He had a team-best four birdies for the Crimson Hawks on Tuesday.
Jeremy Eckenrode (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) is tied for 41st with an eight-over 152,
Joshua Bartley (Valencia, Pa./Mars) is tied for 72nd with a 13-over 157, and Nathan Guerrini is tied for 77th with a 14-over 158.
Third round play
By virtue of being a top three team after two rounds, the Crimson Hawks have the final tee time in Wednesday's final round. Guerrini starts at 12:50 p.m., with Bartley following at 1 p.m., Eckenrode at 1:10 p.m., Cocorikis at 1:20 p.m., and Hoare at 1:30 p.m.
