DANIELS, W.Va. – The season concluded Wednesday for the IUP men's golf team as they finished in a tie for fourth place at the Division II Atlantic/East Region Championships. The Crimson Hawks fell one stroke short of third place, just missing the qualifying cut for the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships.
The regional was a three-round, 54-hole tournament at The Resort at Glade Springs Cobb Course in Daniels, W.Va.

IUP finished with a 29-over 893 for the tournament, tied with Concordia (N.Y.) and Mercyhurst for fourth. Roberts Wesleyan won the regional title by shooting a 25-over 889, including a tournament-best one-over 289 in Wednesday's third round to move up five spots in the standings.
Franklin Pierce finished one stroke back in second place, shooting a 26-over 890. Charleston grabbed the last spot by shooting 28-over 892.
IUP started the day in third place, two strokes back of the team lead in the tightly contested tournament. The top five teams opened the final round within one stroke of each other.
Player leaderboard
Leading the way for the Crimson Hawks was
Matt Cocorikis (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.), who tied for sixth individually with a two-over 218. He finished 11 strokes back of medalist Minwoo Park on Concordia, who shot a nine-under 207.
Cocorikis shot a one-under 71 in the final round with five birdies. Two of those birds came on par fives, including the 526-yard fifth and 501-yard 12th holes.
Michael Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) also finished in the top 10 for the Crimson Hawks, tying for ninth overall with a four-over 220.
Hoare was one of three IUP players to shoot a five-over 77 on Wednesday, along with
Joshua Bartley (Valencia, Pa./Mars) and
Jeremy Eckenrode (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria).
Nate Guerrini (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) shot a three-over 75.
