Brenna Gallagher Roan named PSAC West Coach of the Year

INDIANA, Pa. - IUP's Brenna Gallagher Roan ('16) has been named the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year, as the league announced its postseason awards Monday afternoon.

The honor for Gallagher Roan comes a day before her Crimson Hawks open PSAC tournament play against Mercyhurst in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

This is the first career top coach honor for Gallagher Roan, who is in her fourth year as the head coach of her alma mater. She guided the Hawks to a 12-5 overall record and the third seed from the PSAC West with a 9-3 divisional mark. The 12 overall wins and nine conference wins are the most by the program since the 2016 season - Gallagher Roan's final year as a player in the crimson & gray - when IUP had records of 13-6 and 10-2.

The PSAC tournament berth marks the third for the Hawks under Gallagher Roan since she took over in 2019. She also has the Hawks ranked as a No. 4 seed in the latest Atlantic Region rankings announced by the NCAA Division II Selection Committee last week.

With a 2-2 record and coming off back-to-back losses back in March, Gallagher Roan led the Hawks to six straight wins, including two in overtime and five against divisional opponents. The Hawks have also excelled in tight games this season, going 5-0 in 1-goal games.

PSAC postseason awards
The Coach of the Year honor for Gallagher Roan and the Crimson Hawks came as the PSAC announced its 2022 women's lacrosse awards Monday afternoon. IUP also boasted a league-high and program record seven All-PSAC West selections.
