Dewajee and Ramos ranked nationally in doubles; IUP tennis well represented in ITA regional rankings

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis doubles pairing of Ming Deewajee and Daniela Ramos are ranked 15th nationally as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Division II national and regional rankings in singles and doubles, sponsored by Tennis-Point.

Dewajee and Ramos were the lone IUP representatives in the national rankings, bursting onto the scene as transfers with an outstanding fall season that included a trip to the ITA Cup in October. The duo was one of only two doubles pairings from the Atlantic Region represented in the national listing, joining Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy from Mercyhurst (13th).

The duo went 10-3 during the fall season, posting wins in eight of the last 10 matches and earning a victory at the ITA Cup in Georgia. The duo slotted second in the doubles rankings within the Atlantic Region.

Deewajee and Ramos are ranked in both the national and regional doubles rankings, also ranked among the top singles players in the region upon the release of the November listing.

Elsewhere in the regional rankings, Katy Graydon (6th), Deewajee (11th) and Ramos (16th) are all ranked among singles competitors.

Graydon and Lydia Vlachou slot ninth in the Atlantic Region doubles rankings, going 6-1 as a pairing in the fall. IUP is one of only two schools in the region (Charleston; 3) to have multiple doubles pairings listed in the regional rankings.

Graydon ranked second on the team in wins (7) during the fall portion of the 2023 slate across 10 singles matches. Dewajee posted a team-best 8-2 mark in singles play, while Ramos went 5-2 with three consecutive singles victories to close out the fall portion of the schedule.

IUP opens the "spring" portion of its 2024 schedule on Saturday, February 3 at Carnegie Mellon.
