LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP sophomore
Alex Swinnerton was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, announced by the league Wednesday.
Swinnerton earns the weekly honor for the second time in the 2023-24 season and the fifth time in his already decorated collegiate career.
The Saskatchewan, Canada paced the IUP lineup in its first competition of the spring semester on March 18-19 at Wingate's Ralph Hargett Intercollegiate in North Carolina.
He finished 17th overall at the 54-hole event with rounds of 71, 71 and 74. His one-under 71 in the second round matched the low round of any IUP player in the tournament.
The three-round event included nine birdies over 54 holes for Swinnerton, going a combined two under on par-five holes. As a team, IUP finished seventh in a strong field.
Swinnerton and the Hawks return to the course on March 25-26 at the USCB Oldfield Classic, hosted by South Carolina Beaufort.
