IUP Athletic Hall of Fame
A dual sport star, Sara Raschiatore excelled as a distance runner on the trails and track for IUP. She left a huge mark on both programs, graduating in 2003 as a six-time All-American – earning three each in cross country and outdoor track & field.
On the track, she earned All-American honors in the 3000 meters and 3000 meter steeplechase at NCAA championship meets, while also winning five individual titles at PSAC championship meets. In 2002, she was named the PSAC Championship Most Valuable Athlete and Most Valuable Track Athlete after taking home crowns in two events. She also still owns the outdoor record for the fastest 3000 meter steeplechase time.Â
She was equally dominant on the trails, finishing first at the conference championship meet three different times and finishing as high as fourth at the NCAA championships. At the time of her graduation, she owned the record for the fastest 6K time in program history.
Raschiatore earned her master’s degree in exercise science from IUP in 2004 and is currently employed with Indiana Regional Medical Center as an exercise physiologist. She lives in Shelocta with her husband, Anthony Zambotti. Â
